On September 25th, Zarb Graduate Business Career Services visited the New York Federal Reserve Bank as part of its first Fall 2014 “New York City Experience” for Zarb graduate students. This event was co-sponsored by the Hofstra Investment Banking Association (HIBA).
Barbara Church-Kattan, Director of the Zarb Graduate Business Career Services and Apurv Vispute (HIBA Officer) led 25 students traveling into Manhattan for a visit to the N.Y. Federal Reserve Bank’s museum and trading rooms. The highlight of the visit included an elevator ride down 5 Floors underground, where the Fed’s vaults holds 900 tons of gold sitting on the bedrock of NYC.
The company visit was followed by a walk around Wall Street, seeing the New York Stock Exchange and Trinity Church. This experience provided students with real-world examples in regards to U.S. banking policy and handling, in addition to an in-depth analysis of the nation’s banking history.
